Q: What are the symptoms of a swollen prostate glad?
PS: Yes, I know what a prostate glad is. I know what it does. I need to know what the symptoms are if it’s swollen. Thanks.

A: Prostatitis, when the prostate becomes inflamed or enlarged, is often the result of an infectious agent. Syptoms include pain in the pelvic area or base of the penis, lower abdominal ache, backache, aching testes, the urgent need to urinate frequently, a burning sensation while urinating, a cloudy discharge from the penis, and difficulties with sexual functions, such as painful erections or ejaculations and reduced sexual interest. If you experiencing any of these symptoms you should definitely see a doctor, and they can treat it with antibiotics.

It’s also normal for men as they get older, for their prostate gland to increase in size. This is know as benign prostatic hyperplasia. If you’re between the ages of 50 and 70 this might be what’s going on. If you’re still pretty young you should go see your doctor.

Hope this helps!

Q: Is it normal for prostate infection symptoms to come and go? Like one good day and one bad?
When i’m all out working, such as dragging heavy limbs and pulling heavy ropes, bending over picking up firewood, would this agrevate my condition? Main symptom is I have the urgency to pee. On cipro 500 mg twice a day for about 4 days now. when i’m working hard it seems to bring on the symptoms.

A: no it is not normal. either it is an infection or it isn’t. have him checked at a doctor.

Q: I have symptoms of prostate problems, but I am only 33, should I be concerned?
I have had these symptoms for a cpl yrs now, I have frequent urge to urinate, I have a very weak flow, when I try to pee in the toilet it is difficult, cause I cant control my stream, plus it will get slow then speed up.

A: See a Urologist for evaluation.

Q: Symptoms after routine prostate rectal exam?
Just had my third annual routine prostate rectal exam but noticed two symptoms afterward. The next day, I had to urinate over a dozen times (I generally average 4 times a day). I have also been experiencing difficulties maintaining an erection, which has never happened to me before. The doctor found no problems in my exam at all. I haven’t informed him about these post-exam symptoms as yet. I’m just afraid that he’ll balk at my claims because he might fear a lawsuit (I wouldn’t sue him anyway).

Anyone ever have similar experience or know why this is happening? I’m guessing that the doctor bruised the prostate and urethra tissue during the exam, which may take a while to heal. Sound reasonable?
Went to a walk in clinic. They found blood in the urine sample. Infected bladder caused this. Thanks to all for your comments.

A: I’m not so sure that your hypothetical explanation does sound reasonable. Maybe, but maybe not. Why would bruising, if it occurred at all, cause more frequent urination?

I think you should call your doctor NOW about this. You’re afraid he’ll “balk at (your) claims”? What??? You’re not making a claim, you are just describing symptoms.

Q: What is benign prostate hypertrophy and what are the symptoms?
What are the available treatments for BPH

A: It’s when the prostate enlarges, it happens to 80% of men and increases in likelihood with increasing age. symptoms include discomfort in the local region, abdominal pain. but the pain thing is you urinate slower and the urine stream appears to be weaker than normal.

main treatments are alpha blockers and 5α-reductase inhibitors. both can be precribed by your doctor. in the mean time, you can decrease the discomfort by drinking less fluids before bed time and a urinating schedule (so you don’t build up the urine too much as it can cause discomfort)

Q: Are the blood and protein in Pee and pain the symptoms of enlarge Prostate?

A: More like a kidney infection. In any case, get to the doctor

Q: what is the international prostate symptoms score?

A: A score ranging from 1-35, indicating the degree of interference of the prostate with normal urinary functioning. There are 7 questions, with scores of 0-5 on each question. See a calculator below:

Q: If I have a prostate infection, how much longer will I have the symptoms for?
I’ve been taking one 500 mg pill of levaquin a day since Tuesday. How much longer will I need to urinate frequently and have leaking? I hve to take the medicine for 3 weeks.

A: You should ask your doctor that question.

Q: My prostate is ore and swollen but I have no other symptoms. What could be the problem?
I have no pain or problem when urinating. It is uncomfortable to sit for too long and it also bothers me to walk. Could it be from too much sex?

A: Sounds to me like you have an infection of some kind……I would say the best thing to do is goto a doctor and have it checked………

I would also say you can’t have tooo much sex……….unless maybe you are making it sore my rubbing it too much?????

Good Luck and Take Care……….

Q: How can I tell if my Prostate Gland is Swollen, what are the Symptoms?

A: Difficulty urinating, abdominal (pelvic) discomfort. see the doc. Don’t wait.

Q: What are the symptoms of an enlarged prostate?

A: Aside from peeing a lot, and dripping, or leaking, an enlarged prostate can usually be felt as a fullness or uncomfortable feeling just back behind your anus. It can be enlarged due to infection, and if you are suddenly having problems, go to a urologist and get it checked. An infected one is easy to treat, but takes a regimen of antibiotics.

Q: What are the symptoms of a shrunken male prostate?

A: not sure but if you have a concern you MUST visit your doc. This kind of stuff is very imnportant!

Q: Prostate symptoms or STD?
I’ve had serious pain in my prostate area for almost three months now. Sometimes it’s pretty centralized in my groin area, and other times it feels like it has moved down into my inner thigh area. This started not too long after I had a pretty serious urinary tract infection. Other than the “prostate” pain, I also have “hot flashes” in my pubic region. Feels like I’m sweating, but there’s no moisture. Also, there is sometimes a prickly feeling in or around my urethra! There is no discharge that I can tell. Good grief!!!

I went to my physician. My prostate is enlarged (3 on a 10 scale). He said it sounded like a prostate infection, and prescribed antibiotics. I’ve taken three weeks worth of doxycycline and two weeks of cipro. It hasn’t made much if any difference.

The “prostate” pain is much worse if I do a lot of sitting. If I’m up moving around a lot or lying down, the pain lessens after a while (like by the next day).

My partner (f) got an STD screen and was negative. Now what?

A: Go back to the doctors and ask him to refer you to a urologist

Q: Do you have a enlarging prostate that is causing your urinary symptoms?

A: ……How did you know?
That’s supposed to be CONFIDENTAL

Q: What are the symptoms Ectopic pregnancy, prostate disease, osteoporosis, scoliosis, and mulitple sclerosi?

A: I’m not sure, but I believe that question is a symptom of hypocondriasis – especially considering the combination of prostate disease and ectopic pregnancy!

WebMD is probably the last place you should go….
