Q: Is there any symptoms if you have prostate cancer.?
A: It would depend on if the prostate itself is swollen and choking off the urethra (which is one of the same symptoms of benign prostate hypertrophy AKA BPH). Frequent urination or the sensation of needing to go but can’t is quite common. In both cases, the person needs to see a urologist. He most likely will conduct a PSA test, the normal range for that test is 0-4. A digital exam will also help determine if there is any hardening of the prostate indicating a tumor. There is much more involved, however, if you are 50 or over, you should get a PSA test done once a year. My husband was fine last year then this year he had stage 3 prostate cancer that was discovered with the yearly test.
I wish you the best!
Q: when a doctor gives a prostate exam, what symptoms tell you might have it during the exam?
Hello,
I know the doctor puts his finger in your rectum and feels around. Does he full lump and then assume you have prostate cancer pending on a biopsy?
much help needed thank you.
A: No, he palpates the posterior aspect of the prostate throught the anterior wall of the rectum. He estimates its size (it should be the size of a walnut in an adult male) and its texture, which should be pliable. It is unlikely that he will feel a lump on the surface, because the prostate become cancerous internally then spreads outwards. If the gland feels hard or enlarged, the next test is usually a blood test to check your PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level.
If the result is 4.0 or less, no immediate further action is necessarily taken, unless you have other symtoms, like frequently having to urinate, including getting up from bed several times during the night, then having to wait some time for the urine stream to start, or only a dribble of urine coming out. The volume of semen you produce can be drastically reduced too.
If your PSA is greater than 4.0 and you are suffering with some of these other symptoms, and in conjunction with the digital exam findings, the next step is for a prostate biopsy.
Q: is it possible to younger age to have a prostate cancer?
im 20 yrs old and im experiencing a burning sensation when i urinate. i think this is a symptom of a prostate cancer
A: It sounds more like a urinary tract infection to me. And it won’t go away by itself. You have to get antibiotics from your doctor, and be sure to take them all, even though you feel better. If prostate cancer runs in your family, you might want to have it checked out. But 20 yrs old sounds very young. Most men don’t start getting symptoms till well after 50. The main symptom is not being to empty your bladder, and having a very weak stream.
Q: what are the symptoms of prostate or anal cancer,?
Thanx 4 any answers
A: prostate wraps around urethra where pee comes out from ur bladder.
if u have cancer, prostate gets bigger, thus urethra gets smaller.
hence, difficulty starting stream of pee, dribbling, feeling of full bladder
even after u just “pee”.
u get tested by doctor sticking finger up ur rectum
and palpating ur prostate.
as for anal cancer, difficulty pooping or blood in poop.
usually not discovered til late stage though.
Q: PROSTATE CANCER QUESTION !!!!!!?
Hi,
someone that i know has the exact symptoms of prostate cancer and it runs in his family so he probably has prostate cancer.
Does anyone know how fast prostate cancer spreads?
He just started experiencing all the symptoms so does this mean the prostate cancer just developed?
Also do you know how much the cost for surgery is without any medical insurance?
Please take this question seriously, its very important to me
thank you
A: Prostate cancer patients rarely have a problem with insurance as they are often on Medicare by the time they get it. LiT is correct he needs to start with his doctor and office visit and a PSA doesn’t cost much.
Q: Prostate Symptoms: Small Aches here and there?
Off and on as far as I can remember I’ve gotten dull aches tightness around my prostate area followed by a feeling like I needed to urinate, like I had a little urine to still come out. This usually happens off and on for a coupel of days every so many months. Bladder doesnt hurt, stream is fine, no pain during urination or ejaculation. Could it be normal or Prostatitis, Prostate Cancer or….?
A: Could be any of them. Visit the Cancer Treatment Help site on Prostate Cancer and see their symptoms list there:

Q: What’s the symptom of prostate cancer ?
Do people who have prostate cancer have strong sexaul desire ?Do such people have sex life or have kids?
A: Signs and symptoms
Prostate cancer often doesn’t produce any symptoms in its early stages. That’s why many cases of prostate cancer aren’t detected until it has spread beyond the prostate.
When signs and symptoms do occur, they may include the following:
Dull pain in your lower pelvic area
Urgency of urination
Difficulty starting urination
Pain during urination
Weak urine flow and dribbling
Intermittent urine flow
A sensation that your bladder doesn’t empty
Frequent urination at night
Blood in your urine
Painful ejaculation
General pain in your lower back, hips or upper thighs
Loss of appetite and weight
Persistent bone pain
Q: Prostate Cancer Question?
How is prostate cancer diagnosed and what are some signs or symptoms of prostate cancer? thank you
A: When a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood level surpasses 4 a doctor will do additional tests to rule out prostate cancer (usually a biopsy).
Some symptoms include:
A need to urinate frequently, especially at night;
Difficulty starting urination or holding back urine;
Weak or interrupted flow of urine;
Painful or burning urination;
Difficulty in having an erection;
Painful ejaculation;
Blood in urine or semen; or
Frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs.
Q: Please tell me this isnt prostate cancer im only barely 19!?
Im a healthy just turned 19 year old male. On friday afternoon i started having these weird symptoms. I began urinating frequently, however in very small amounts. I also started having urinary hesitancy. It can take a minute or more for me to get urine flow. My dad has threatened to kick me out of the house (jokingly) because I keep talking about this. He says i have some kind of infection at worst (i sure believe and hope so). Anyways, i wish i could be ok and relax thinking its a urinary tract infection, but ive got no pain or blood in urine. I dont have an STD because im a virgin. Im scared enough to have made an appointment for tomorrow with a urologist. Im hoping its either a bladder infection of some kind or a UTI without pain or blood (dont even know if its possible) I as a hypocondriac researched this for the past 2 days. Im way too young to either have an enlarged prostate or prostate cancer, however i have the hesitancy, urge to go frequently with little urine coming out, and no pain! these are some of the symptoms of prostate cancer and or enlarged prostate. I dont want to lose any more sleep from this, can anyone help me with reasons this cant be prostate cancer and how im just overreacting? Thanks so much!
A: Only rarely does a UTI cause bleeding, and you can sometimes have a UTI without pain. There are also many other things, such as stones, that could be the cause of these symptoms that are not cancer. The likelihoo of someone your age having prostate cancer is very slim.
By the way, Rx used in the answer above, means prescribe/treatment, and I agree, you will most likely get antibiotics from the urologist tomorrow.
Q: Cancer symptoms in my granddad, how long could he have left, how do I help my grandma and him?
just over a year ago my granddad, now 81, began getting an ache in his stomach, and after a check up, was told he had terminal prostate cancer and could have a year left. He quickly lost stamina and could only walk short distances, last week he was told it had reached his liver.
On thursday he had a blood transfusion, and quickly reacted badly and on friday went come, before going back out again to hospital ill. All of a sudden things have deteriorated, my grandma was told by the doctor when they visited on sunday he could be on his last 2 weeks. He’s been put on morphine, he can’t walk or talk properly, most of the time he isn’t even actually conscious.
I’m only 18 but this morning gave him a massage and when i asked him if it were okay he grunted raspily “eh nice”, his talking is limited to “pain” “yeah” “no thnks”. He lent forward a lot today and when i asked whether he was okay he said “back pain” with a cringing face. He has red vains/burst cappilaries on his nose, has lost a lot of weight but has a large bloated stomach. He has a sort of black goo extruding from his mouth and hasn’t eaten since sunday, occasionally has a sip of juice to swallow morphine. The doctor had said it’s now also in his diaphragm and that he’s pretty much infested with cancerous lumps.
What do these symptoms mean, what’s happening to his body… My grandma is so upset, last night he got angry with her without really saying much because she spilled medicine on her. Will he ever be conscious again before he goes?
Help please. Fill me in. Hospice nurses come once a day to check him over.
A: Make sure that he is as pain free as possible, talk to the doctors and nurse. There is a patch containing fentanyl (a very strong pain killer) which is like a big plaster that can help if he is having difficulty swallowing. Keep his mouth as fresh as you can, there used to be glycerine and lemon mouth swabs which you could buy to remove the goo which forms when someone isn’t drinking. Most patients quite like the flavour.
It sounds as if he has only a short time left so tell him that you love him, make sure that he is left alone as little as possible, talk to the doctors about a ‘night sitter’ if it proving too much for the family. These are health care assistants who will stay (awake) in your house overnight and do any care tasks which are necessary. If they feel it necessary they will wake you – we had one when my father was dying.
Your grandma is facing losing her husband of many years and watching him have all these difficulties even if he isn’t actually in pain – she is bound to feel helpless and upset. All you can do is to help him, be there for her and don’t try and stop her doing some routine things if she really wants to do them. Sometimes cooking a meal, for example, can remind you of normality and let you take a bit of mental time out from the situation.
You can talk to someone on the helpline from this site
www.canceradvice.co.uk/support-groups/cancerbackup
Sometimes talking to someone can help more than these sort of internet sites.
Your grandfather may become conscious but he may just drift off into a sort of twilight zone. Sort out with the doctor what practical steps are necessary when he eventually dies, think about which undertaker you are going to use so that you do not have to deal with this when you are really upset, see if there is a helpline locally you can call if he gets distressed. When my father died there was a number at the local district nurse centre where you could get advice and they could get a nurse to come out to you if you had problems.
Best wishes to you all and I hope your grandfather has a peaceful death surrounded by his loved ones.
Q: frequent urination does that means i have prostate cancer?
I’m 14 dis year and i realised recently that at night when I am about to sleep I would have dis feeling of going to de toilet to urine…however everytime i do that only a little bit of urine comes out, my urine is clear. I read an article that frequent urination at night is a symptom of prostate cancer, but does my case classify as frequent urination at night? I also have pain on de left side of my pelvis and it is below my belly button. Am i suffering from prostate cancer? I do not have any of the other symptoms though.
A: I REALLY DOUBT IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH CANCER MAYBE ITS JUST A PROSTATE PRBLEM BUT YOU SHOULD VISIT A DOCTOR…
Q: Can Lupron injections for Prostate Cancer leak out the hormone if not administered correctly?
My dad gets Lupron injections for prostate cancer. The injection site is leaking quite a bit, has for the past 2 treatments (1 every 3 months). Based on other symptoms, we think his body isn’t keeping the full injection, although the dr. says this isn’t possible. Is it possible some of the actual hormone could leak out and not just the oil that it is packed in? Or is there a blood test that would measure the amount of hormone in his system vs. how much should be in his system?
A: I was taking shots for 3 years. They hurt my hips so bad, I was in constant pain and walking was difficult. I switched to Lupron Depot, a capsule placed in arm, with 1 year effectiveness. I would have stopped treatment without this alternative. The cost is the same, but check with insurance, since some raters don’t know what the procedure is. Good luck to all of you.
Q: Would you know if your symptoms indicate prostrate cancer?
Trying to raise awareness here – and it is important. 10 points for the best answer. (I never thought it I would say that – but what else have I got to bribe you guys with?)
http://www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/
Thomas – will you look and learn??? Please.
Roger?????
A: I have a fair idea – no signs yet. Had a test coupla years go.
You don’t have to bribe me with anything!
Ducking out for a pee now and then to bed. Don’t wake up for small pee-pees or anything during the night, bladder retention is excellent, no (ah-hem) erectile problems, don’t have to squeeze it out.
I think it all works OK.
Q: Are men aware of prostate cancer?
Do men even know of the symptoms?? I am aware of prostate cancer but I am wondering if any other men are.
A: Yes, I know what prostate cancer is.
Q: What does untreated prostate cancer actually do to your body?
Like, not symptoms, but the actual effect/s it has on you.
@ Delhi Surgeon…I’m a girl, and I do not have prostate cancer. I was just curious.
A: Well, eventually pretty much every cancer would follow phases something like this…
Localized tumor (prostate in this case)
Spreads to surrounding tissues
Spreads to lymph nodes
Lymph nodes carry microscopic cells thru the body
Cells create new cancer sites elsewhere in the body
Cancer eventually gets to vital organs and uses up so much energy itself that the patient becomes weak, frail and thin, eventually dies once a vital organ gives up.
Prostate is USUALLY very slow growing and normally takes a long time for it to become very serious. It’s one of the most treatable cancers and very common as well.
ADD: Also if you notice the most terminal or critical cancers are those that start IN the vital organs…that means that the cancer is already in a major danger zone and makes it much more deadly.
I just survived cervical cancer, which the cervix is not a vital organ, I was very lucky I think because had it been somewhere vital I don’t know how much harder treatment would’ve been but it was hard enough!
